Be Soft

SUNDAY SERVICE in My Head   11/24/13

Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place.
― Kurt Vonnegut

Contrast. That is what gives us the opportunity to live from the place in us where peace resides. Where happiness resides. Where hope resides.

This week in NJ we witnessed a follow up to the horror of the animal abuse case of Sammy. This time the pup has been named Heaven. You can search the internet for the details on either, because this is as close as I want to come to reactivating my emotions on both at the moment.

In both cases, the love pouring from people was tsunamis . Both pups, expected to die from the harsh treatment they had experienced at the hands of those entrusted to care for them, healed. Love Heals.

Sammy’s story is at the happily ever after part in a forever home. Heaven’s journey is beginning, paved with warm blankets, toys and love.  Oh yes..and medical care from a veterinary service who did not let bitterness and love of money, steal their sweetness.

I collect these stories. These stories of hope. Stories of kindness. When the bitter truths  of the cruelty of some, the seeming cruelty of life included, enter my system, I quickly wash them down with the sweetness of all that is good.

I know there is ugliness out there. It is from acknowledging it’s existence that I know how powerful my posture is when standing in my truth, and saying I choose the good. I choose to acknowledge the kindness of others. I choose to forgive, both others and myself. I choose to take an active step to being a part of the process to bolster the Light, when it may seem to be enveloped in shadows.

The Divine Source has gifted me with eyes to see the glorious world I live in. My choice is to use them to witness the promise in a child’s face, the soul in an animals eyes, the good that others do.

I am not blind to the goings on of the world. I simply choose to sit at the table with Kurt and believe in the beautiful.
